WELCOME WARRIORS!!!
| January 23rd South Dakota State University will be at WHS to visit with students during lunch hours. |
STUDENT SPOTLIGHT
Hailey W., JUNIOR
Activities & Involvement:
I have been involved in SALSA before. I have volunteered at the Orpheum Theatre downtown.
Future Plans:
I plan to graduate in 2013 and major in Biology at SDSU. When I am finished with that degree, I want to go to Iowa State and get my Veterinarian degree.
Tell us about your experience in Shadow Ed at WHS:
I have participated in 2 shadows. My first one was 2 years ago shadowing small animals at Dale Animal Hospital. That was very interesting because I watched a great dane have it's leg amputated. The 2nd job shadow I went on was at the Large Animal Vet Clinic.
What were some advantages to completing a job shadow?
I learned a lot about the different duties you do. There is a big difference between large animal and small animal clinics. After my first job shadow at Dale Animal Hospital, I was offered a part time job because they liked the way I interacted with the animals and because of how much I knew prior to going on the shadow.
What advice do you have for other WHS students considering a job shadow?
Do at least one job shadow before you graduate. It will really help you choose a career after high school. It also might help you get a job.
